Volume 6, Issue 12 ~ December 2009

_President

I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. It gives us an opportunity to give thanks for the blessings in our lives. I’ve found that being an artist is a wonderful blessing. We seem to look at the world with a completely different point of view. Fields, skies and trees that others walk past and ignore catch our eye as colors, shades and highlights. Feelings such as, joy, fear, sadness, even anger, become a challenge to capture in time with our medium. Our world, with art, is an inspiration around us. I hope you will all take a moment to look around you’re your world. Let the colors and emotions inspire your art. I may even ask for some volunteers to share in January.

I would like to thank Sue Eakin for teaching us water color once again. I had a great time. I always enjoy trying new things. The scenes that we painted were simple and the techniques were fun. If you were not able to attend I am very sorry that you missed out on this enjoyable class. Next month will be our annual Christmas party. The menu is pot luck. Please come and enjoy. I am looking forward to seeing everyone there. Don’t forget the ornament exchange. If you bring an ornament you get an ornament. There will be brown bags available to put them in at chapter. In January we will have Nina Daniels as a teacher. The project is an adorable kitty. I hope to see you there to start the new year strong. Your President, Barbara Steingrobe

Meeting was called to order by President Barbara Steingrobe at 12:45 pm

Minutes: Donna made a motion to accept the minutes of the September Chapter meeting as published in the newsletter. Jeanne seconded the motion. Motion carried.

ELECTIONS
Nominations: Due to extenuating circumstances, Jean McNeese took on ALL the responsibilities of the nominating committee this year including calling each member, seeking volunteers, and coordinating the election of officers. THANK YOU Jean!

Barbara asked for any additional nominations from the floor for the elected positions of President, First Vice President, Second VP/Treasurer and Secretary.

No additional nominations were made

The Vote: A ballot was distributed for members to mark. Ballots were collected and counted. Congratulations to our new 2010 Elected Officers!

CHRISTMAS DINNER
Sign Up: Barbara reminded members to sign up for a dish to bring to the Christmas dinner on December 19, 2009.

Bingo or Bunco: Barbara also wanted to know which game the members preferred for the Christmas party. Barb shared how enjoyable Bunco was for those who had never played and that the game can be used as a fundraiser although we won’t do that at our Christmas dinner. A vote was taken and Bunco won the vote.

Voluntary Ornament Exchange: Bring a hand painted ornament to exchange with other members at the Christmas Party and you will receive one in return. Please be sure the ornament fits inside a small brown paper bag. All the bags are placed on a table and those who brought an ornament will have a chance to choose a bag!

JANUARY CHAPTER PROJECT
Nina Daniels will be facilitating our January Chapter Project: Priscilla Over the Fence
Priscilla is an adorable cat rendered in acrylics. Nina indicated the base coat under the cat should be smooth but the basecoat under the fence could have a rougher texture. We’re looking forward to January! Nina left patterns and pre-work instructions.

Meeting was adjourned at 1:02 pm

Chapter Party has been canceled for December.

Email notice from PresidentI want to confirm with everyone that the December meeting / Christmas Party has been canceled.  We will be having our celebration once again in January.  This year the change was not due to the snow but rather the double booking of the church.  We will still have our regular teaching in January.  Nina Daniels is teaching an adorable kitten.  Please check the news letter for directions as Donna already sent out the pattern.  We will have our holiday pot luck for lunch.  While everyone enjoys their meal, I will hand out service awards from 2009.  There will still be an ornament exchange.  Please bring your ornament, wrapped in a way which makes it difficult to see.  It does not have to be a paper bag.  I have a game planned for this.  I promise it will be
fun, but won't take to much time.

Please remember, our chapter is very fortunate - we do not have to pay any fees to use the Tri-City Church of Christ facility. In 2009 let’s continue to show our appreciation and help support their church pantry.
In the bag, please put a list of the items you bring and their est. cost, thank you!
