“Butterflies and Phlox Mini Lampshade”

Supplies: 
140# water color paper, 9x12” 
Blue chacopaper transfer paper
Bubble pallet and/ or
 Palette tablet, opt.
Paper towels
Cotton swabs
Hair dryer
#2 pencil
.005 Micron Pigma permanent ink pen
Water tub
Stylus
Eyedropper, opt.
Fine grit finger nail file
Old stiff toothbrush or other spatter tool
Scissors, regular blades
Scissors with decorative edge 
Elmer’s glue or glue stick
2 small binder clips or 2 large paper clips
Popsicle stick & wax paper 
Large wine glass
Votive candle
Satin varnish, spray or brush-on, opt.

DecoArt Acrylic Paints:
DA01 Titanium White
DA144 Yellow Light
DA83 Black Forest Green
DA154 Pansy Lavender
DA189 Summer Lilac
DA232 Vivid Violet
DA194 Marigold

 DecoArt Glitter:
 DS32 Starlite Top Coat

Brushes:
#4 or 5 round (I used Sandy’s Sure Stroke)
10/0 JS liner (1/2” bristles)
 #6 or 8 filbert
 #8 flat or 1/4” angle
1/4” or 3/8” mop




 

Prep Instructions:
1. Use a #2 pencil to trace the outer edge of the lampshade. Do not cut out the shape until you are completely finished with the painting.

2. Carefully transfer everything on the pattern onto the watercolor paper using the blue chacopaper and your stylus. Note: you may use regular grey graphite, but the lines are more difficult to erase. While doing the butterflies, transfer only the lines for the wing patterns as shown on the main pattern.
