(We will be emailing the pattern out; Phyllis will also have a few of the patterns available at the next meeting.)
Preparation
1. Sand surface, seal and lightly sand again.
2. Base the entire surface with Light French Blue and Light Buttermilk applied in a “slip-slap” manner: Double load a 3/4” angle or flat brush with Light French Blue and Light Buttermilk; blend on your palette and then apply to your surface in a “slip-slap” manner to create a mottled look. Use the side of your brush to soften any harsh edges.
3. Transfer the basic pattern, excluding the vine, the snow and the snowmen details.
4. Basecoat as follows:
Snowmen - basecoat all snowmen with Buttermilk. Do not basecoat the center snowman’s chin and hands where they overlap the letter “l.”
Snowmen Hats: Snowman sitting on the “W” - Celery Green
Center Snowman - Camel
Snowman next to the “e” - brush mix of Rookwood Red and Light Buttermilk
Holly Leaves - Celery Green
Holly Berries - Rookwood Red
* Do not basecoat the “Welcome” letters...we will paint those in class.
