“Meet Phyllis”
I have been creative for as long as I can remember. I’ve enjoyed needlework (embroidery, sewing, crocheting, knitting) for a long time. I think it must be in my blood, as my Mother and Grandmother were both very creative.
In about 1965 I took a year long class in cake decorating and started teaching the next year; I did that for about 4-5 years. I went to beauty school in 1968 and worked in the field as a beautician for 18 years.
When my husband was transferred from S. California to Missouri in 1983, I started doing cross-stitch display samples for a cross-stitch shop, which I did for about 4 yrs.
I’d been wanting to learn to “tole paint” for a long time...and well, in 1989 I got a chance to take a class; my first classes were in Gresham, Or. When we moved to Myrtle Creek I found our dear Jamie, not long after her first book came out, and well, I have been painting ever since!
I almost forgot to mention that I started creating cards a few years ago and it is another outlet for my creativity. It is gratifying to create a card personally for someone and know that they will enjoy it.
What more can I say except that is my story and I am sticking to it!
~~~~~~~~~ Jamie’s note: Phyllis is one of the most talented women I know! She is so creative and she amazes me with her knowledge in so many different areas of arts/crafts. I don’t think there is anything she can’t do! She is a sweetheart and an amazing cook, she is loyal and would help anyone in need. I am privileged to call her a friend, (aka: my Other Mother)...she constantly goes above and beyond - Phyllis I love ya!
